The Chapter has worked with the NYC Council to advocate for community-led initiatives that deliver not only technology, but equity to NYC’s underserved residents, particularly those living in public housing.
The Chapters efforts have included work with the Council Committee on Technology to support their work to introduce legislation to the City Council that revives the Internet Master Plan, a truly innovative plan of the previous administration.
Additionally, the Chapter has testified at numerous public hearings to underscore the critical importance of community-controlled information and public safety networks that deliver unparalleled benefits when residents and communities themselves are in control of the design, operation and ownership of technology solutions in our own communities.
